What we expect from you

As a company we work hard to ensure that a professional service is delivered to our clients, first time, every time. So regardless of the nature of your work with HLS, you will play a part in achieving this objective. It is therefore reasonable to ask, that any employment or subcontract activity undertaken by you, is done so in a professional and expedient manner.

What you can expect from us

Before you start work for HLS, we will ensure that you are provided with the necessary skills to perform your role.

This means that for both HLS employees and all approved subcontractor personnel, we will assess your capability in rope access or other relevant techniques, as well as your familiarity with the standard equipment that HLS use. For HLS employees this initial assessment establishes a baseline for your future training needs and personal development within HLS.

Once you have started work, we will ask you about your experience with us and how we are performing as an employer. The information you relay back to us, is monitored at senior level within the organisation and directly affects the way the company works.

How do I apply?

If you would like the opportunity to work for HLS, then your future employment contract, or companies approval status, starts with the provision of some basic information. HLS has developed a recruitment and supply chain portal to make applying for positions or subcontracts as easy as possible. We have provided a number of routes to facilitate your application process, so please read which application is for you before making your choice. Which application route is for me?

Employee?

If you are looking to work for High Level Specialists as an employee, either part time or full time (on PAYE terms), then you should select the ‘Employee’ option.

Subcontractor?

If your company wishes to provide subcontract services (ie, rope access services) then your company needs to attain approved contractor status with HLS. To start the approval process, you should select the ‘Subcontractor’ option.

The approval process is designed to cater for all sizes of companies (from 1 person to 1000+). For the avoidance of doubt, if you are a single person contractor operating under Limited company status then this is the option for you.

Note: All of HLS approved subcontractors must carry appropriate insurance. This is currently set at:

  • Employers Liability (minimum £5million)
  • Public Liability (minimum £1million)
  • Professional Indemnity* (minimum £100k)

* PI cover is only a requirement for companies performing NDT operations.

What information will I need to complete the application process?

Before you start, ensure that you have all the following information to hand.

Employee route

  • Your address details including postcode
  • Your contact details (telephone, mobile and email)
  • National Insurance number
  • Name of previous employer and contact person
  • Your qualifications and expiry dates
  • The advert code you are responding to (if applicable)

Subcontract route

  • Company name, address and contact details
  • Company number
  • VAT number (if applicable)
  • EL, PL, PI insurance details
  • Company nominated personnel (who will be working for HLS)
  • Qualifications of nominated personnel, including expiry dates
  • The advert code you are responding to (if applicable)
