HLS are proud to offer First Aid training for the construction and offshore industries
There are various First Aid training courses available:
STCW Elementary First Aid (accredited by the MCA):
This course aims to provide seafarers with the basic knowledge of immediate First Aid action to be taken upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency on board ship.
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded an Elementary First Aid certificate, accredited by the MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency).
Course Duration – One day (7 hours)
Course Location – Blackpool
CPR and AED:
This course teaches the essential skills required by an AED operator and gives students the confidence to know what to do in this kind of emergency. No previous First Aid knowledge is necessary to attend an AED course.
This course is suitable for anyone interested in furthering their emergency First Aid skills, or who takes part in an organised First Aid scheme. For health care workers, this course serves as a basic module.
Each student will also receive an AED Defibrillation handbook to assist your learning throughout the course.
Course Duration – 1/2 day (4 hours)

Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work:
This qualification is designed for those learners already working or preparing to work in industry and that have been identified within the company’s risk assessment of First Aid. It is typically delivered as a one day programme.
Topics within this course are regarded by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as being important in maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health in the workplace.
Each student will also receive a handbook to assist your learning throughout the course.
Course Duration – 1 day
Course location – Blackpool
*The Level 2 Emergency First Aid qualification can also be delivered in your work environment (providing their is sufficient space) anywhere in the UK. our trainers will travel to your place of work and deliver the course, providing all necessary equipment and learning aids.
Level 3 First Aid at Work:
This qualification is ideal for those already working, or preparing to work, within industry who wish to become a First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Our coursers provide a quality learning experience offering hands-on practical training skills that leave First Aiders feeling confident to use their skills in a real life situation.
It is therefore important that participants are physically able to perform the relevant actions and techniques included in the HSE syllabus. Each student will also receive a booklet to assist your learning throughout the course.
Course Duration – 3 days
Course location – Blackpool
*The Level 3 First Aid qualification can also be delivered in your work environment (providing their is sufficient space) anywhere in the UK. our trainers will travel to your place of work and deliver the course, providing all necessary equipment and learning aids.
